Crookilley Toys’ Emporium in Bramhall Village
Crookilley Toys Emporium is a family business managed by Philip Baldwin and his daughter Olivia. The shop was opened in December 2018. It’s situated in the pedestrianised Bramhall Village Square, so whether you are treating your child to a haircut at Little Big Heads and yourself to a cup of coffee in a cosy cafe, your offspring is letting off steam in the playground or trailing behind you while you do your daily shopping, you can’t miss Crookilley Toys Emporium – and we’re certain that you’ll be tempted to pop in.
This independent traditional toyshop is attracting customers from across south Stockport and north Cheshire. Situated on two floors, it offers a wide variety of toys, games, jigsaws, models, and kits, for all ages from baby to adult. It sells many well-known brands and a wide variety of pocket money toys; dolls and action figures sit happily on the shelves next to wooden and educational toys. The shop also stocks many games ranging from perennials such as Monopoly and Operation to modern classics such as Catan and Carcassonne. The crafts room includes activities from Top Model design and sticker books to Airfix models, and science and crafts kits. The jigsaw room, meanwhile, offers a variety of puzzles from 20 to 4,000 pieces.
Like many individuals and business nowadays, the shop takes its environmental responsibilities seriously. Recycling of packaging and other shop waste is promoted wherever possible, and the Emporium recently converted to LED lighting throughout the premises – providing bright, cheerful lighting as well as consuming significantly less electricity.
Philip says: “We are happy to advise on suitable items, according to age, budget, and requirements. If we do not stock a requested item, then we will try hard to source and order it. We strive to provide a relaxed and friendly shopping experience, with appropriate Covid safety measures in place. We are pleased that we have been able to continue our growth post-lockdown, providing a greater choice for our customers. We are grateful to our regular customers who have supported us and we welcome new visitors every day.”

I love traditional toys shops, something so nostalgic about them and there seems to be so few too. I love walking in and going ‘wow’.

What a fab shop. Takes me back to my childhood seeing such a wonderful independant Toy Shop. It was always such a treat to visit and see so many toys, like visiting another world. So refreshing to see that there are still such shops available for children to enjoy, such an important part of children’s growth and culture to have such a wonderful and amazing experience, hands on, and tangiable in such stark contast to seeing pictures on television or online.
