Team Greenbank – Past, Present, Future
Those who enjoy following the exploits of Team Greenbank and its students, may have recently seen on their social media outlets, that the school has a rich and varied history and that in fact, this year it celebrates its 70th anniversary!
Banksbee, the school and day nursery’s very popular mascot, kicked off the celebrations for this historic milestone by gifting all the children with an Anniversary Bee: their very own little winged friend, to celebrate seventy wonderful years of Greenbank and to be a constant reminder to the children of all the values that Greenbank stands for. Banksbee’s anniversary friends brought great joy to the children, especially after such a challenging few years, and really reminded the whole Greenbank family that together, they would all continue to thrive through any adversity.
Greenbank School came to life in 1951, occupying only the house that is now used as the day nursery and with sixty pupils on role. Before long, news of the wonderful new school founded by Karl and Linda Orsborn spread far and wide, and a long waiting list of families wanting to be enveloped into the Greenbank family began to form. The school proceeded to grow in order to cater for its burgeoning cohort and invested in specialist buildings and equipment, advancements in technology and the recruitment of nurturing, highly-qualified staff.
The dedication of the Orsborn and the continuation of this dedication from the school’s subsequent caretakers have resulted in Greenbank becoming one of the most desirable and successful independent preparatory schools in the country. Although Greenbank has grown, the Orsborn’s core values continue to be at the heart of this family-centred learning environment, which sees children achieve their goals and move on to bright futures year after year.
This will undoubtedly be a year to remember at Greenbank School.
The school always welcomes back with open arms all members of Team Greenback, past and present. If you’d like to help building an exciting Alumni Community, visit the school’s website and sign up to the database to receive fortnightly newsletters and information on Greenbank Events.
