Stockport Grammar Pupils Excel in National Enterprise Challenge
A team of four business savvy Second Years from Stockport Grammar School have been named the fourth best team in the country at the Ryman National Enterprise Challenge.
The SGS team travelled to the iconic Wembley Stadium for the National Final. Alice Finnie, Alex Bloor, Brooke Richards and Amaya North had created ‘Skyler and Ranger’, a plastic waste fighting duo, to be the new mascot for Ryman.
Presentations were conducted by all the competing teams throughout the morning. While the panel of four expert judges deliberated, the pupils had the opportunity to visit business trade stands and to listen to inspiring business talks.
In the afternoon, all teams were called to The Great Hall inside Wembley Stadium and it was announced that the Stockport Grammar team had been chosen to be one of ten schools to present on the finals main stage.
Before presenting, the team were treated to a Q&A session from Theo Paphitis, the Chairman of Ryman and a former Dragons’ Den judge.
The team from SGS gave a four minute presentation to a crowd of more than 1,000 people. The pupils then had another long wait to hear the overall results.
Economics and Business Studies teacher Mr Alex Phillips accompanied the team on the day and said: “The pupils delivered a superb presentation with confidence and clarity to such a large audience. Finishing where they did in a National competition is recognition of the dedication that they put in to creating two strong mascots, with an excellent story, and the hours of rehearsals. The pupils should be extremely proud.”
