Pirates Ahoy in Swashbuckling Assembly at Bolton School

An audience of parents and Reception and Year 1 children at Beech House were entertained as Year 2 children celebrated their term’s work on pirates with a colourful pirate-themed assembly that involved singing sea shanties and narrating swashbuckling stories.

Over the half-term, the girls and boys have enjoyed learning about the book “The Pirates Next Door“, written by Jonny Duddle. They learnt about Blackbeard and how he buried his treasure so well that no-one found it! They have also been busy designing their own sea creatures and treasure maps and using coordinates to solve pirate problems. The Year 2 children further developed the plot, creating their own versions of the story.
