Hockey Champions of the North
Cheadle Hulme School’s U13 Hockey squad are champions of the North, securing a place in the England Hockey National IN2Hockey Finals.
The girls topped the podium at the North Finals this month, where they were put to the test against the best hockey-playing Schools in the North of England.
With an undefeated run of play through the day, the Year 8 students achieved their well-earned place in their final game against Queens Chester. A last minute goal in that game put CHS in front, crowning them North Champions and guaranteeing them a spot at the National Finals in Nottingham, in May.
Team Coach and Head of Hockey at Cheadle Hulme School, Mr Jamie Henderson said: “The girls’ effort and teamwork during the whole day was amazing. They played for each other and, at the end of the day, that is what counts.”
The U13s’ success adds to the growing number of accolades for girls’ sport at the School, with the U15 squad recently picking up the Stockport County Championship shield, and First XI team member, Jenni Park gaining selection for the England Hockey U16 National Age Group Squad, representing her country against Holland in April.
