Cinderers Outshines The Ugly Sisters In King’s Panto
Cinderella outshone the ugly sisters when King’s School Year 4 pupils presented their festive pantomime ‘Cinders’.
Cinderella desperately wants to go to the ball. However, after she meets the Prince, she discovers he is not the man of her dreams. After the Fairy Godmother’s spell to make the golden slipper too big, she realises that Buttons is the love of her life after all.
With corny puns, dramatic action, rousing songs, rhythmic percussion accompaniment and intricate dance routines in every scene, the young thespians impressed with their clear and expressive acting, their concentration and, in particular, their beautiful singing.
There were, of course, some star performances from the leading characters with great comic timing when delivering the humorous script. Mention must be made of the children’s lively and extremely funny dance to the Adam and the Ants hit, ‘Prince Charming’.
King’s Infant & Junior Division Director of Music Alison Lea said: “All of the children were an important part of the action, with the whole year group participating in a variety of roles. It was a pleasure to see the children thoroughly enjoying themselves on stage, performing so confidently no matter what part they had to play.”
