Little Baby Boutique for Preemies and New-Borns.
According to NHS statistics: ‘about 8 out of 100 babies will be born prematurely’.
If you’re the parent of a premature baby — born earlier than 37 weeks — you are certainly spending your first days, weeks and probably months focused on weights, measurements, and tests. You are living minute-to-minute worrying about this tiny new person in your life.
The good news, though, is that most preemies grow up to be healthy kids. They tend to be on track with full-term babies in their growth and development by age 3 or so. Before they reach that milestone, however, they are likely to require some extra care.
Although dressing them may not be the first thing parents of preemies are concerned about, they still want their new-born sons and daughters to look gorgeous in their first outfits. That is where Mummy & Theo’s Little Baby Boutique comes to the rescue.
The company was incorporated by Korena following the premature births of two of her children. Theo was born at 29 weeks weighing just over 2lbs. He spent 9 weeks in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) before being allowed home weighing a little over 4lbs. A year later, Xanthe was born at 34 weeks weighing 5lbs. On each occasion, Korena experienced difficulty finding clothes to fit the babies. This experience helped her to establish a Little Baby Boutique for tiny babies and their parents – saving families from taking the extreme measures they had previously resorted to, which included kitting their little ones out in dolls’ clothes or grabbing the sewing machine to handmake some outfits.
The company’s clothing range fits new-borns from 1.5lbs up to 10lbs and also offers some garments suitable for babies aged 0 – 3 months. Each garment is carefully chosen by Korena, who knows exactly what small babies need. Among her customers are parents who have had multiple preemies themselves, just like Korena, and there are even examples of those who have gone on to foster premature babies too! Caring for a baby born earlier than 37 weeks brings with it a multitude of challenges, but is here to ensure that even the tiniest little arrivals can start off in style.
