IFA Summer Camps: Fun and Games for All
The Inter Football Academy is the perfect pathway for young players of varying abilities to kickstart their love and enthusiasm for playing football, providing children of any ability with opportunities to develop their skills and techniques in football, or just to have fun, socialise and get active outdoors.
One of the IFA venues is situated at Didsbury Sports Ground , a place known to many locals because of its clubhouse which welcomes not only current members, but everybody from the community. With seating both inside and outside, parents can have a drink and watch professionals on Sky Sports while waiting for their kids, or they can support their offspring, chat with other parents and enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
Didsbury Football Club consists of nine teams accepting children of all ages, the youngest group being the Didsbury Bambinos. Once they reach the age of six, they transition to the Didsbury Pre-Academy. Didsbury Academy is eligible to children aged 9-15, as well as three open age men’s teams. As well as this, within the IFA, Inter-Futures Support plays an important role in helping young people with mental health issues. It assists young people facing mental health challenges in joining new clubs, and even starting apprenticeships, helping them to achieve their life goals. Didsbury Football Club also has links with Manchester Active, which is a part of Manchester City Council. Their objective is to inspire people to get healthier and to spark a more active lifestyle.
A much-anticipated event that takes place at this venue is the ever-popular children’s holiday camp, which will be running every week in August from Monday to Thursday, starting on the 1st August. Any child of age 5-16 is more than welcome to sign up, and children eligible for free school meals will be provided with free spaces. It will be run by friendly, experienced coaches, lasting four hours from 10:00am-02:00pm. There will be different activities taking place, comprised of a variety of multi-sports, including football, rounders, baseball and tag rugby. Not only sports, but arts and crafts are also on offer for children who are looking to express themselves creatively and channel their inner artist, whilst learning about nutrition in engaging and imaginative ways. There are plenty of different activities for all kids to participate in.
A similar holiday camp will be held this summer at Cheadle Heath Sports Club in Stockport. There will be sports, arts, crafts and dance activities, with a free hot meal also included. All the fun and games will start on Monday 1st August.
