Free Summer Camps for Ukrainian Kids
According to statistics released by UNICEF at the beginning of June, out of 7.5 million Ukrainian children, 2 million have crossed into neighbouring countries and 2.5 million are internally displaced. The UN says that 90 percent of Ukrainians who have fled the war are women and children. “War suspends the children’s childhood,” says Ane Lemche, a child psychologist for Save The Children.
The lives of these kids are changed forever, but a week of fun and games together with their British peers may be just the thing they need right now. So, with the help of Mail Force charity, two holiday camp providers – Premier Education and King’s Camps – decided to offer thousands of free places to primary school-aged children.
If you are hosting a Ukrainian family with young children, or know somebody who is, check out our listings to find a place near you. Please note that places are limited and the application date for some of them is 30th June.
Hello. My children and I left Ukraine since the beginning of the war and moved to Manchester. My daughter is 16 years old, my son is 13 years old. I read about the possibility of a free summer camps for Ukrainian kids. He would like to take advantage of such an offer and meet children of his age.
Hi, Iryna.
If you’re interested in the two camps mentioned here, you can register at https://www.premier-education.com/ukrainian-holiday-camps/ or at https://www.kingscamps.org/supporting-families/ – you might like to do this as soon as possible (because some of the places gave today as the deadline).
We are also constantly getting new information on free camps, so do keep checking the info on our pages or staying in touch through the comment section.
Another thing you might consider doing is calling some camps nearby and checking: “I read in M&D Magazine that some holiday camps are offering free spaces to Ukranian kids. Are you one of those camps?”.
