Medical Students Lend a Helping Hand

There’s not much good news to be found these days, but we have some that we’d like to share with you. With face-to-face teaching in universities being suspended , medical students up and down the country have come up with a way to lend a hand to their future colleagues, who are fighting on the front line against coronavirus.

These self-affirmed ‘reasonably responsible human beings’ are volunteering their time to assist with tasks such as childcare, shopping, and dog-walking, for any and all NHS workers. They come armed with DBS checks, and most of them have tutoring or babysitting experience as well.

From London medical schools, this brilliant initiative has been spreading steadily, and we’re sure our readers will be delighted to hear that it’s reached us here in Manchester! Whether you’re a medical professional in need of a willing child-minder, or a parent who knows their newly-returned student might like to get involved, get online and get involved!

The Covid-19 Helping Hands groups which are springing up all over the UK are primarily designed as an informal way to allow people to connect, so we do always advise caution, and recommend checking ID.
