M&D ‘Back to School’ 2020: via Your School, Nursery, Letterbox
M&D Magazine is out – it has now been printed and distributed! You can find it at your usual distribution points, or you may even have received it through your letterbox this time.
Normally in September we welcome you and your family back to school, back to nursery, back to the usual routine. But it’s a ‘new normal’ this year, and our concept of a recognisable routine has changed dramatically and keeps changing day in and day out. Going to school – not going to school –staggered attendance for children – no staggering…no face masks for schools – face masks on school buses – in the corridors – on the buses – for older children – for all children – only compulsory if there is a lockdown; also it’s a good idea to wash kids’ uniforms every day (according to some). And shut all the pubs! No, open all the pubs, otherwise parents will go insane…
We at M&D are moving along with the rest of the world. We had colleagues who were sceptical about the pandemic, and those who were over-cautious, we worked from home, and we home-schooled, we quarantined on our return from holidays, and had holidays cancelled. We missed out on printing an issue of the magazine for the first time in seventeen years, and mustered our digital presence like never before.
And now we’re all embarking on new routines, with new topics to discuss and new options to consider. We’ve tried not to make this issue all about Covid-19. But it sneakily filters into everything in our lives now – in bad ways and good ways. Some of our long-term supporters were not able to advertise with us this time – and even if they never advertise with M&D again, we hope their businesses will bounce back. Some have kept supporting the magazine despite the difficulties they are experiencing themselves. If you have this magazine on your coffee table today, it is because we are surrounded by extremely kind and extremely resilient individuals – our clients, writers, distributors, delivery people, colleagues (who are working twice as hard in difficult circumstances), and, of course, readers. Our thanks to you all! We value your support during these unprecedented times like never before. And we hope to be able to support you – parents and businesses alike – by sharing useful information and thoughtful content, both online and in print.
