Youngsters at The King’s School in Macclesfield have swept the board in recent weeks when it comes to sporting achievements across a range of disciplines. The Year 6 boys have ‘won the double’, being champions of both the AJIS Under-11 Northern Rugby Sevens Tournament as well as the AJIS 12 aside Rugby Tournament.

Not to be outdone, the Under-11 girls won the Macclesfield & District Primary School’s Tournament, claiming victory in all but two of their league matches and becoming joint winners of the League 1 trophy. In similar style, the Under-12 team won the County Championships and were unbeaten in 10 games.

Young runners also took home several medals in the recent Macclesfield & District Cross Country Championships. The Year 5/6 Boys’ Team won their event, while the Year 3/4 team took second place.

King’s pupils also dominated at the National Schools’ Trampolining Championships, with high-flying pupils leaping their way to national glory with a hat trick of top titles. The Under-11 novice boys team, the Under-19 elite girls team and the Under-13 elite boys all took first place on the podium and the titles of National Trampoline Champions.

Director of Sport, Chris Thomson, said: “I’m delighted that our young sports people have done so well across such a wide range of sports, from trampolining to athletics. It is very encouraging to see such a huge amount of talent at such a young age, and I am very much looking forward to seeing their progress in coming years.”
