Francis House Easter Chick Appeal
The whole family can get involved in the Francis House Children’s Hospice Easter knitted chick appeal.
Knitters and chocoholics unite in Francis House hospice’s biggest annual Easter appeal. Thousands of knitted chicks filled with a single chocolate egg are distributed to schools and businesses across the North West prior to the Easter break. Their sales generate tens of thousands of pounds in funds for the Didsbury based hospice, and there are lots of ways that you can help.
Kintters and crocheters are being asked to pick up their needles to create cute chicks and bunnies by following the simple patterns available from the hospice website. Finished chicks can be posted by 6th March 2023 to: Fundraising Office, Francis House Children’s Hospice, Parrswood Road, Didsbury M20 5NA, marking your parcel ‘Easter Chicks’.
Creme eggs need sourcing in their thousands to fill every chick. Could your workplace, school or even home be a collection point? All eggs need delivering to the hospice by 10th March 2023.
Selling points for orders of chicks are always welcome. If your school, nursery, office or shop can take a box full of chicks the hospice can supply posters and collection tubs.
Volunteer your time and mileage by picking up donations of creme eggs from local stores and supermarkets or by delivering orders of chicks to the many venues selling them. Spare hands are also needed to help fill 50,000 plus chicks. Could your work place or group volunteer for a day’s ‘stuffing session’ at the hospice?
In 2022 more than 32,000 chicks flew the nest from Francis House raising more than £45,000. With running costs of £4.7 million a year, the charity relies on fundraising ventures like this one to continue to expand and develop its services supporting the families of children and young adults with life-limiting conditions.
