Editor’s Word of the Season: HAYFEVER
Finally, the glorious season of summer is here! I’ve been looking forward to it for months – the long sunny days, the relaxing holidays in exotic foreign locales, the streets packed with elegantly tanned people enjoying a cup of coffee outdoors. And then, I throw open my window on that first warm day, and my nose starts to twitch. Suddenly, the darker side of summer comes floating to the surface of my memory – the insect bites on my kids’ faces, the sweaty streaks on my clothes, the battle between spending time with children and being at work and, of course, the dark spectre of ever-present hayfever. Everyone has their own personal ‘hayfever’, that nasty aspect of summer that we all choose to forget about and pretend doesn’t exist for the rest of the year.
