Back to School Time: Routine
The end of summer always signifies a return from the heady, disorganised, adventurous, sun-filled days which characterise that season to the colder, darker, more routine days of autumn. Timetables go back to being more structured, school runs are back on the agenda, and every moment seems to be scheduled. But is ‘routine’ necessarily boring and restrictive? An article from AuKids founder Debby Elley reminds us that for some kids, routine is recognised as a blessing. But, in fact, for a lot of young children and their parents, the return of routine can provide some much-needed relief from the mania of the holiday season. So, perhaps we should all try to look at structure as more of a saviour than an infliction this autumn.
M&D Magazine is routinely making it way to the usual distribution points around Manchester and Cheshire and will be available to pick up from the first week of September. Dive into this issue for ideas on how to get a head-start and make sure your new school routines are perfect, for open day dates so you can look ahead to more-grownup routines for your older kids, and for home decoration ideas which will remind you that routine doesn’t always have to mean dull.
Enjoy getting settled back into the cosy predictability of autumn!
