Back to School after the Long Summer Holiday

Issue 66 of Mums and Dads family magazine, autumn 2019

Editor’s Word of the Season: Break

What on earth are we talking about? Isn’t the whole point of Autumn that the break is over? Well, we think that’s just a matter of perspective. Yes, the Summer break is (unfortunately?) behind us. But a break doesn’t have to refer only to the lengthy, sweaty, and – as everyone who staycationed in the UK this year will be all too painfully aware – rainy summer holiday. A break can represent any change from what has come before. And autumn, as we all know, is always full of changes.

In this issue, we talk about breaks of all kinds. From holiday breaks – it’s never too early to start planning for half-term, to family breaks, to upcoming breaks. Yes, we’re already thinking about gift shopping and panto hopping during the Winter break, so enter our COMPETITION for a chance to win Tonibox, a perfect Christmas gift. And, of course, the big break on everyone’s minds at this time of year – the break away from primary school and on to the “adult world”! Grab a copy of M&D Magazine at your local distribution point for insights into Open Days, school news and more.

So, this Autumn, rather than mourning the Summer break, let’s look forward to all the new breaks which are heading our way. After all, there’s surely something to be said for a well-earned break from having the kids hanging around the house all the time…

  • Hi Pippa, Sorry for the delayed response, I’ve just found your comment. Quite agree September is a time for new beginning. I wonder what do you think about December. Our next edition is out next week and the Editor’s Word of the Season will be Decision. So watch this space and don’t worry it’s not about election or Brexit 😉
