The Koala Who Could comes to The Lowry this April
The Koala Who Could, a new family musical based on the bestselling picture book by Rachel Bright and Jim Field, is scheduled to run at The Lowry in Salford from Tuesday, April 8, to Sunday, April 13, 2025.
Bringing the charm of the book to the stage, Rose Original Production with Nicoll Entertainment, Lowry, Northern Stage, Unicorn Theatre, and MAST Mayflower Studios, present an empowering and chuckle-out-loud story about embracing change. The Koala Who Could is a vibrant, joy-filled production that will captivate young audiences and parents alike. With stunning visuals, toe-tapping tunes, and cute puppets this is family theatre at its finest.
At the heart of the story is Kevin, a lovable but cautious koala who clings—quite literally—to his comfort zone. When change inevitably comes knocking, Kevin embarks on a journey of self-discovery, learning that sometimes the biggest leaps lead to the most rewarding adventures. This heart-worming story will whisk audiences from Manchester straight to the burst of Aussie sun and warmth, where they’ll join Kevin, King of the staying-still-kings, and his friends the wombats, roos, and dingos.
Young theatre-goers will be mesmerised by the whimsical staging and colourful character design, while parents will appreciate the show’s cleverly woven themes of resilience, courage, and growth. Each musical number is a guaranteed earworm and the delightful interaction between the characters, will ensure plenty of giggles from children and smiles from their adults.
More than just a visually stunning show, The Koala Who Could will leave a lasting impression with its gentle yet powerful message: change, though scary, can lead to wonderful new beginnings. For families seeking a feel-good, beautifully crafted theatrical experience, this production is an absolute must-see.
