Ironkids Inspire Active Lifestiles
More than 2,200 children from across the world will be meeting in Bolton to compete in the ultimate, young-persons fitness challenge.
Market Place Shopping Centre will be promoting an active, healthy lifestyle in Bolton, when little athletes aged between 3-15 years old descend on the town for Ironkids 2014.
Ironkids takes place on Saturday July 19, preceding the adult Ironman challenge taking place the following day.
The Ironkids programme inspires young people to participate in a range of sporting events, including; triathlon, aquathlon and running races, all with a big emphasis on fun.
Nikki Wilson-Cook, Centre Manager at Market Place Shopping Centre said: “We’re proud to welcome Ironkids to Market Place, events like these encourage young people to make positive lifestyle choices by staying active and eating healthily.
“We’ve been blown away by the number of athletes taking part in this year’s event and I, on behalf of everyone at the centre, wish all contestants the very best of luck!”
At Market Place, families are invited to go head to head with a selection of sporty challenges organised by Virgin Active and David Lloyd who will be bringing fitness machines into the centre.
The centre are also hosting a family competition, giving one lucky pair their chance to win £50 NEXT and £50 Teddy Bear’s Workshop vouchers with a ‘Dad vs. Food’ challenge.
Contestants must eat one 2ft long “olympic sized” marshmallow and the Dad who finishes in the quickest time possible will be crowned winner.
GAME will be setting up Nintendo Wii consoles in the centre featuring a selection of sporting games including; bowling, golf and boxing.
Across Market Place’s main mall, giant outdoor games will be set up around to continue the day of hands-on, active fun.
Smaller sporting fans can take to the bouncy castle in the main mall of the shopping centre and attend a Mad-Hatters Tea Party at the Ironkids pre-registration area located on the ground floor, opposite Boots.
Face painters, balloon modellers, a magician and BWFC’s Lofty the Lion will also be greeting shoppers to the centre throughout the day.
