Heritage Open Days
Heritage Open Days, a celebration of architecture, history and culture, return this year with a variety of in-person and virtual events and activities. Between 10–19 September 2021 a lot of historically significant venues open their doors to visitors for free. Take advantage of this opportunity and explore sites you’ve never visited before.

Church of the Holy Name
This truly magnificent building was designed in 14th century French Gothic style by the architect Joseph Aloysius Hansom and build between 1869 and 1871. The Holy Name gives an opportunity to learn about an iconic building and the role of this church in the neighbourhood.
Guided tours are limited to 10 people per group and about 40 to 45 minutes long.

Clayton Hall – Living History Museum
Clayton Hall is Grade II* listed building and a rare example of a 15th Century timber framed manor that was build on the site of 12th century moated house. It was enlarged later on and now has two main sections, Tudor and Victorian ones. Visitors of all ages will have a chance to participate in a lot of activities and to experience what life was like in the late 1800.

Victoria Hall – A Place at the Table
Come to Victoria Hall for Heritage Open Day and Macmillan Coffee Morning! You’ll have a chance to go on a tour of the Hall and learn how food has played a big role in the history of the Mission through quizzes, displays, and family scavenger hunts.

Discover Victoria Baths
Visit Victoria Baths, a former Edwardian swimming pool and one of Manchester’s most unique historic buildings. You can explore the whole building, including three swimming pools, a Turkish Baths and the former Superintendent’s Flat, all beautifully tiled, with stained glass windows and mosaic flooring throughout. The gift shop and tea room will be open for business, and a guided tours will be available.

The school dates from 1612 and at it’s present location since 1878, and includes a Grade II listed Arts and Crafts building designed by John Swarbrick.

St James’ Church
Visit historic Manchester Church founded 1236. This Grade II* listed building has many memorials and stained-glass windows to famous Lancashire and Cheshire families. Church will be opened for worship on Sunday, 9am – 11am, all visitors are welcome.
