Didsbury Arts Festival 2015
Saturday 20 – Sunday 28 June. Save the Date!
Didsbury Arts Festival is back with a nine-day programme packed full of fun and surprises for all the family! With more than 100 artists involved in 80 events and exhibitions at venues all over Didsbury, there will be something to entertain festival-goers of all ages.
Don’t miss the DAF opening celebrations outside Didsbury Library on Saturday 20 June (12 noon), with live music, theatre and a crafts market launching a whole weekend of al fresco fun. Bring a picnic to the magical Parsonage Gardens for an exciting family afternoon of music, theatre, puppets and storytelling (Sunday 21 June). Meet the talented performers from the Circus House and join the Bee Cart to explore the wonderful world of bees.
Add your voice to ‘Sing Didsbury!’ for a day of music-making led by choir master, Stuart Overington – Didsbury’s answer to Gareth Malone! Take a seat at the movies with Cosgrove Hall, the local film company and world-class animators behind Dangermouse, Count Duckula and The Wind In the Willows. Step inside the jaws of a giant whale (if you dare!) for a unique theatre experience. Enjoy storytelling, workshops, daily music events, visual arts and much, much more …
For the first time ever, DAF will feature a series of specially commissioned new works, embracing a diverse range of art forms: from animation to poetry; sound art to new writing and sculpture to new music. Other highlights include contributions from author, Patrick Gale, jazz star Stuart McCallum and Alex Poots (Manchester International Festival.)
Most events are free; some ticketed. Free festival programmes are available at Didsbury Library and other local venues.
