The talented Jazz saxophonist and former King’s pupil landed the top prize in what is regarded as one of the blue-ribbon categories for British jazz aficionados. Among the top award winners this year was the legendary Courtney Pine, so Alex is in very good company.
Withington Girls’ School has been named North West Independent Secondary School of the Year 2020 by The Sunday Times, a wonderful and much-appreciated tribute to the talents, efforts and commitment of its pupils and staff. It is the third time Withington has earned a Sunday Times Schools Guide accolade; WGS was previously Independent Secondary School of the Year for 2009 and North West winner for 2012.

The Eco Committee, which is made up of pupils from across the year groups, started by completing an Environmental Review of the school in order to begin the Eco School journey and provide ideas of areas to focus on. This included topics such as waste, energy and biodiversity.
