Code Ninjas: Trafford welcomes new dojo, where kids become coding masters!
Mark your calendars! On 20th March, Code Ninjas is officially opening the doors of its brand-new dojo in Altrincham, and bringing a world of coding adventures to local kids. As the first of its kind in South Manchester, this dojo is more than just a space for coding – it’s a playground for future innovators! With creativity, problem-solving and fun at the heart of every session, Code Ninjas is all about preparing the next generation for a bright, tech-powered future. Get ready, Altrincham and Sale – your coding journey starts here!
Long-time best friends and South Manchester locals, Vishnu Kumar Tellakula and Raja Manikanta Diddi, decided to launch Code Ninjas in the heart of their community after searching for STEM education opportunities for their own children. With a combined 30 years of experience in IT, they balance full-time careers with pursuing their passion for tech education. Their friendship began when their now six-year-olds attended nursery together, bonding over fatherhood and their shared expertise in the IT industry. Recognising that coding is the universal language of the future and a crucial skill for their children’s career paths, they set out to create an inspiring learning space for young minds.
“Raja and I connected years ago – and our friendship has only grown, with our families now getting together as regularly as possible. Now, we’re thrilled to introduce a fun, structured way for kids in our community to get into coding. The careers that children will pursue as adults have yet to be defined. As AI and IT capabilities continue to evolve, IT skills are set to become indispensable.
We believe that Code Ninjas will play a significant role in what’s to come,” said Vishnu.
“English and Maths get plenty of love in the school curriculum, but IT skills are the future. Our goal is to spark a passion for technology, giving kids the space to learn, explore and grow at their own pace. Who knows – we might just be shaping the next generation of coding whizzes!” added Raja.
At Code Ninjas, tech mentors are called Code Senseis® and students are called Ninjas. The brand’s fun, relaxed approach is something that helps kids ease into their learning experience. Instead of exams and grading, Ninjas rise up the ranks through earning different-coloured wrist bands – just like belts in martial arts. Kids aged 7-14 will be found cooperating and learning alongside friends by building robots or even developing apps and games in a completely parent-free dojo!
“The Ninjas can attend sessions up to twice a week, but the timings are flexible, which means you don’t have to come at the same time or on the same day. We offer something very different to what’s taught in the traditional curriculum and after-school clubs, so I’m confident we’ll be popular with both students and parents alike,” added Vishnu.
The dojo, located at Holy Cross Church Parish Hall in Timperley, is a vibrant, tech-filled space designed to inspire and engage young minds. Conveniently situated between Altrincham and Timperley, it’s easily accessible for families in South Manchester looking to introduce their children to the exciting world of coding.
“Creating something meaningful for our community alongside my best friend has been an incredible experience so far. Vishnu and I share a passion for technology and education, and we knew we wanted to build something that would have a lasting impact. We’re currently recruiting Senseis too and are looking forward to bringing opportunities to local tech lovers who want to help us in our mission. We’re proud to bring this opportunity to local families and can’t wait to see the next generation of coders emerge!” concluded Raja.
