Travel to Wonderland
Whether it’s a shot half-term break or a long summer holiday a few hours of magic would never go amiss. Here is your chance. Get aboard the steam train at the East Lancashire Railway on the 20th February or on the 18th August and join all these weird and wonderful characters from Wonderland.
You’re late, you’re late, for a very important date! It’s time to take a tumble down the Rabbit Hole for a curious adventure with Alice and her friends and meet the surreal inhabitants of this bizarre place during interactive experience that will be a delight for kids and their adults alike.
Your adventure includes a ride from Bury to Rawtenstall and back, a roughly two-hour Wonderland experience with colourful characters, themed activities and an opportunity to take a lot of photos.
Once you arrive back at Bury make sure you pay a visit to The Trackside Bar. This traditionally appointed railway pub is situated on the Platform and offers a wide range of drinks and a menu packed full of pub lunch staples. There’s also a kids menu so the little ones do not need to feel left out.
Why not finish things off with a visit to the Bury Transport Museum, which is conveniently situated just across the road from Bury Bolton Street Station. Housed within a lovingly restored goods warehouse that was originally built in 1856, the museum explores the history of industry and transportation in the Irwell Valley. The story of the people who lived and worked in the region is brought to life by the stunning collection of original artefacts and interactive exhibits.
It’s the perfect adventure for the whole family.
